Fado Irish Pub Supports Children’s Cancer Research
Submitted by: Regon MacInnis, Event Manager, Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant
Fado Irish Pub, located at the corner of 15th Street and Locust in Center City, is pairing Saint Patrick’s Day, the largest American drinking holiday, with the sensible Irish tradition of lending a helping hand to neighbors in need.
Thursday, March 12th the pub will be celebrating St. Baldrick’s, a national fundraiser providing support for children’s cancer research. Some of the Fado staff along with several regulars will be going bald for a cause and have raised money through pledges to shave their heads.
A section of the pub will turn into a barber shop from 5pm through 10pm. Anyone can show support by raising money and joining the list of shavees. The Philadelphia pub hopes to raise $100,000. There will also be a silent auction from 5 pm to 7 pm. All proceeds will go directly to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
St. Baldrick’s is the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Over the last eight years over 46,000 volunteers in 18 countries have shaved their heads for children with cancer, while raising donations of support from friends and family.
The community can donate by visiting www.fadoirishpub.com/philadelphia and clicking on the St. Baldrick’s link on the right hand side of the page, or stop by the pub to sponsor your favorite bartender, server or manager.
