Increase Your Presence with the Chamber’s e-Newsletter

Stephanie Goldstein, Vice President of Development, ACHIEVEability

Writing for the GPCC Newsletter is a fantastic way to accomplish several goals which are not limited to: (1) Enhancing the visibility of your business; (2) promoting membership in the Chamber; (3) providing a resource for other businesses to gain from your experience; and (4) enhancing your business by promoting connections with other businesses in Greater Philadelphia.

There are three ways to write for GPCCNews. You can sign up to write a Business Savvy or Corporate Cares article. Business Savvy articles allow you to share your expertise with fellow Chamber members, while Corporate Cares articles let you showcase how your company is giving back to the community. These slots fill up fast due to limited availability, so remember to sign up in advance! Also, every Chamber member can submit one press release or announcement a month for placement in the Member News section of the newsletter. Email sfriedman@greaterphilachamber.com to find out more about these opportunities.

As the Vice President of Development for ACHIEVEability, a major 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the Philadelphia area, enhancing exposure to other businesses that may want to partner with us or may share our goals is of immense utility and importance. Briefly, since 1981, ACHIEVEability has been working to end poverty for single parent, low income families, many formerly homeless. We believe that housing is a necessary first step, and we develop our own program housing to help stabilize families. Be we know that, in order to truly achieve permanent self-sufficiency and financial freedom, education is the key. We strive to have all clients work at least 30 hours per week and accrue at least 15 credits per year toward a post-secondary degree or equivalent. ACHIEVEability gives our clients the tools to achieve their goals in an atmosphere that promotes accountability, responsibility and success.

Simply describing ACHIEVEability’s basic program and goals as a non-profit has immediately enhanced our visibility with the readers of this article. Writing, especially about a subject that one is passionate about, is the easiest form of marketing. Articles provide opportunities to establish connections to attract potential donors and an educational resource for other non-profits who may wish to contact us. Quite frankly, the opportunity to both promote ACHIEVEability and to get to know other businesses in the greater Philadelphia area through the Chamber is an exciting prospect.

Certainly the current economic circumstances invite cooperation and the formation of connections between businesses, simply for survival. Businesses must explore new ways of enhancing profitability and in the case of ACHIEVEability, enhancing and improving donor relations. Writing for the Chamber can serve to let other businesses know about politically driven economic changes involving zoning, taxation and licensure in the City of Philadelphia and its surrounding counties, in order to promote understanding of the changes and how they will affect individual businesses.

Before you read this, you very likely knew nothing about a multimillion dollar non-profit in your midst that serves the community in which it is located and deserves the help and support of other businesses in the greater Philadelphia area. Now you know about ACHIEVEability. Shouldn’t your business also get this sort of exposure too? Please feel free to contact ACHIEVEability at: Stephanie.Goldstein@achieve-ability.org and visit our website at www.achieveability.org.
