The Waterfront Group Foundation presents "Tabula Rosa Project"

The Waterfront Group Foundation (WGF) is a non-profit organization that offers the public free educational classes, seminars and workshops on becoming successful homeowners. Launched in December of 2007, the Tabula Rasa Project was created to give a deserving family a place to call home. The Project was advertised through radio (105.3 WDAS-FM & 107.9 WRNB-FM), newspaper, television, community events, internet and e-mail campaigns. With a January 31, 2008 deadline, applicants had a five week timeframe to complete and submit their applications which included a personal essay and questionnaire.

On February 14, 2008, EXIT REALTY "The Waterfront Group" announced the first Tabula Rasa Project recipient live on 105.3 WDAS-FM on the Patti Jackson show.

Darlene McPhail, the recipient, is a single parent with five children all under the age of 13 years old. Her essay provided insight into her troubled past and how she prevailed from it with her determination to be a better person and the best mother to her kids. Darlene also included her list of short and long-term goals, some of which she had already accomplished. "Own my own home — It is the biggest goal of my life..." Thanks to the Tabula Rasa Project, she is well on her way to complete this goal. The McPhail family’s home will be presented to them this September.

The Foundation’s goal is to award two homes every year. Fundraising efforts are now underway to complete Phase I of the Tabula Rasa Project and applications for Phase II are currently being accepted.
