YPN and Variety Club Hit Another Home Run
For the past two years the Young Professionals Network (YPN) and Variety Club have teamed up to coordinate volunteers and take Variety Club children to a Phillies home game. This year's event was picture perfect with wonderful weather, excited children and YPN volunteers ready to provide a fun day at the Citizens Park. The afternoon began with a brief overview of what the YPN volunteers should expect, and shortly afterwards the Variety Club busses arrived with the kids. Two to four YPN volunteers and one Variety volunteer, were paired with a Variety Club child and they proceeded to get all the baseball game essentials - ice cream, popcorn, sodas, hot dogs, and Phillies gear. Even though the Phillies lost to the Cincinnati Reds the real winners were the YPN volunteers and the Variety Club children, which were an unbeatable team through the quality time spent together at the game. Although the event only occurs once a year, the experience will live on in the hearts and minds of the Variety Club children and YPN volunteers who shared the laughs, sportsmanship, teamwork and fun
